Thermoplastics will be applied to critical parts of automobiles
at present, automobile manufacturers are focusing on the application of plastics around engines to reduce vehicle quality and improve fuel economy. Three major American automobile companies have applied thermoplastics to manufacture automobile exterior decoration and liquid containers and battery covers around engines. As a further development, they are considering applying plastics to more critical parts around the engine
Jim Ryan, head of plastic application department of chassis and engine system of dyke company for non-metallic materials experiment, said: "when we look at the future with a strategic perspective, we find that the power system and chassis metal aluminum have high chemical activity.
